The Moor's Head Ottoman h 60 cm — Blue and Orange Decor is one of the most original and extraordinary pieces in Ceramiche Sofia's entire production: an artistic ceramic sculpture in the shape of a male Moor's Head that, thanks to its size and load-bearing structure, transforms into a functional piece of furniture to sit on, lean against, and live with. Entirely made of Caltagirone ceramic, decorated with the classic blue and orange contrast of the Sicilian ceramic tradition, it is both functional furniture and a work of art — a piece that literally brings Sicilian ceramic to the center of the room.

The Moor's Head Ottoman stems from an idea that Ceramiche Sofia courageously pursues: integrating handcrafted Caltagirone ceramic into functional furnishings, crossing the boundary between decorative art and livable design. The result is an exceptional piece of furniture for those who want to live with art, not just display it.

All works are fire-signed, accompanied by a certificate of guarantee, and hand-modeled and decorated. Production times may vary depending on availability, as each product is made to order to ensure maximum attention to detail and artisanal uniqueness.

The process of creating our ceramics unfolds in various meticulously curated phases, ensuring that every finished product is a unique and timeless work of art.

100% Handcrafted Ceramics

For almost 20 years, Sofia La Maiolica di Caltagirone has been dedicated to the artisanal production of unique majolica pieces, decorated and shaped by hand. They are inspired by the classic style of Caltagirone ceramics from all eras, made with unique glazes that recall the origins of the Eastern world where colors were produced by fusing kaolin-based glazes. The manufacturing process that leads to the creation of our ceramics is divided into six important phases:

Turning, Drying, First Firing, Glazing, Decoration, and Aging.

For each of these phases, we dedicate the utmost care to every detail so that the final product is the result of a unique, inimitable, and unaltered work over time. The main characteristic of purchasing a non-industrial product is precisely this: owning a unique product.
